Disciples Recource ~ daily Bible Reading
Why should we read the bible?
To learn who God is, know him better, and recognize His voice and know Him better. We have said we want a relationship with God; we call Him Lord and Savior, yet how will we get to know Him if we know nothing about Him, think about it for a moment, if you met someone new and wanted to know more about someone, you would want to know their character, their likes and dislikes, things that make them happy, sad or even angry right? Well, fortunately for us God made sure it was written down in the Bible for us to learn from.
Consider the Following Verse:
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4;12
Did you notice the verse from Gods' word says His word is Alive, or sharper than any two-edged sword, perhaps that it judges the attitudes of the heart? Without the Word of God we would have no basis for our beliefs and find ourselves going into our own thoughts and feeling of who we think God is, making our own version of who God is,versus who He says He is.
It is important to learn who God says He is, too many false religions have begun and too many people have been led away into thier own destruction by following their own thoughts without listening to God.
His Word is reliable and we can trust in it as much as we do Him without having to worry about anything other than following Him.
As a Church we read through the Daily and yearly to make sure we all are on the same path to become true Disciples and make disciples, if we know the Word of God then there can be no false teachings, or misunderstandings of our purpose in life. We teach weekly form the same verses that everyone reads at home.
